Alvar Myhlback to Race as Senior on Swedish XC Team ?

September 20, 2022

There has always been an unwritten rule for XC ski racers in Sweden that they cannot participate in World Cup races until the age of 19. Alvar Myhlback turned 16 this summer, and he is so good that Norway’s World and Olympic Champion Petter Northug called Alvar a jewel. Scandinavian XC ski experts are calling him the greatest XC talent they have ever seen. In the last nine months he has beaten Senior A Team members from both Norway and Sweden on snow and in roller ski and running races.

Anders Bystroem, the head of the Swedish XC Team, said that if beats some of the A team skiers on snow this coming winter, he will let him race on the Senior Team.    -Len
