WORLD BIATHLON CHAMPIONSHIPS IN OBERHOF, GERMANY FEB. 08 – 19, 2023

The last two races took place yesterday. Norway has for many years been dominant in Biathlon, especially in the men’s races. But in yesterday’s mass start races Sweden finished 1st and 2nd in the men’s race and first in the women’s race. With 14 medals, Norway showed it is still the leader in Biathlon.

Here is the list of the medals captured by the other countries that made the podium.

Sweden 11, France 4, Italy 4, Germany 3, and Austria 1. Thirty-two nations competed in the championships, but only six nations made the podium.

This week World Nordic Championships begin on Wednesday with the women’s 5 KM and men’s 10 KM freestyle. Looking forward to eleven days of what could be some surprising results. Don’t think the US men are going to be competitive, but the US has some very good female skiers that can medal.
