XLK900 Composite Shaft Classic Series


Our latest Composite shaft Classic ski.  The XLK910, our slowest ski, is very close to snow-speed, making it a top choice for elite training.



The composite shaft for the XLK900 Series roller skis is made with several different materials used in combination to provide high strength and fatigue resistance. The foundation for the XLK is a precision lightweight core  with exceptional vibration damping properties, wrapped with several layers of unidirectional fibers and biaxial fibers. The biaxial aramid fibers (Kevlar™ ) have very high tensile strength and are extremely tenacious compared to carbon.  Aramid also has better vibration damping properties than carbon, but carbon has a higher modulus and compressive strength, so in our latest XLK models we have added 25% carbon to the outer biaxial fabric.  The unidirectional fibers provide most of the strength.  For an optimal combination of torsion and tensile strength, the  biaxial fibers have a nominal weave angle of 25°.  The UV resistant epoxy we use to bond the fibers has a tensile strength greater than any other known epoxy.  The fiber/epoxy structure is protected with a strong UV resistant .25mm thick clear polymer.

An outside supplier manufactures the precise core, but Jenex manufactures the critical composite structure that provides the strength and fatigue resistance.  All composite shafts are compression tested and every pair of shafts with the same serial number has equal deflection.

The wheel forks have much better fenders than the original 800 and 900 series skis.  The combination fork and fenders are produced in Du Pont’s™ toughest thermoplastic, further strengthened with the addition of carbon fibers during the injection molding process. The non-metallic wheel forks reduce vibration, and for improved safety, all V2 Roller Skis are designed to accept the patented Jenex speed reducers and brakes.


The XLK900 is available in 3 speeds.  XLK930 is fast, XLK920 is medium and XLK910 is slow.  The XLK910 are very close to snow speed. Roller ski study in Sweden. The 920 are medium slow and the 930 are medium speed. The rolling resistance in the 910 free wheels is increased using our patented ISR (internal speed reducer) that weighs only 10 grams. The wheel forks with the built in fenders use the same strong Du Pont™ composite material that we have employed on the V2-900 series for many years
